It will be a nice change in the environment for you to do something else rather than your usual tasks. When you’re bored or not feeling challenged at work, tell your boss. Set a meeting and discuss what could possibly be done to ease you out from this slump. Your bosses will appreciate the initiative that you have taken to tell them what’s wrong. They wouldn’t want to wonder why you’re suddenly not being productive at work. Not only will their business suffer, but your reputation will take a hit, too.
Decorate Your Space
Do you occupy a small cubicle at work? Maybe all you need is to redecorate your space. Put up a corkboard against one wall and post photos of your family, friends, and travels. These will remind you why you’re working in the first place—you’ve got to take care of your family or, if you’re single, yourself. Ask your boss if you can change the color of your workspace. Maybe you can cover the chair with brighter colors other than gray or black. Other ornaments that will spruce up your space are knick-knacks from your travels, stationery, and succulent plants.
Maybe it’s not about feeling bored at work. Maybe you don’t have anything to look forward to. Your rewards don’t need to be expensive. You can treat yourself with a nice dinner after work or give yourself a 10-minute break to stretch your legs outside the office or check your Facebook. Subconsciously, you’ll be working a little harder because you’re looking forward to these small treats.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ve worked hard to be where you are now. You’re probably bored because you’re exhausted from working long hours. Pat yourself on the back. Sometimes, appreciating yourself is all it takes to get another surge of energy.
